GOLIAD HIGH SCHOOL
Exemption Criteria 2024-2025
Purpose: To increase academic seat time and overall school climate.
A student is eligible to exempt semester exams if the following criteria are met:
- Grade of 90 or above and no more than (3) three absences coded as either excused, unexcused, all-day doctor excused, nurse sent home.
- Grade of 80 - 89 and no more than (2) two absences coded as either excused, unexcused, all-day doctor excused, nurse sent home.
Note: Extra curricular school absences for UIL sanctioned events will not count against the student for total absence count. Additionally, documented medical absences in accordance with an IEP or 504 Plan with a doctor’s note will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- NO overnight suspensions, OSS (Out of School Suspensions), ISS (In School Suspensions), or DAEP.
- Student cannot be on the Holds List for fees, fines, or holds.
- Dual Credit CANNOT be exempted.
- STAAR tested classes cannot be exempted.
- Students who earn points at the UIL district Academic Meet can be exempt from all classes unless other expectations are not achieved. This is applied to Spring Semester Exams.
