Students preparing sequel to UIL film entry

Goliad’s entry into the UIL contest earned three students the knowledge that their short film was 10th in the state.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t high enough to move past the semi-finals round and onto the State stage.

“Nightmare on Tiger Drive” was one of 12 films competing in the 3A semi-finals for that chance at State.

This short film by Alex McCaskill, Hunter Mitchell and Isaiah Pena tells the heart-pounding story of what first appears to be a zombie invasion at the high school.

“These students worked extremely hard on this and their other short film,” said Jason Collins, teacher at Goliad High School. “We are all proud of what these three have done and we cannot wait to see what they create this semester.”

These students definatley have something in the works — and it might just be a sequel to Nightmare on Tiger Drive.

In 2021 Goliad High School had twoother students who advanced to the semifinals of the UIL Film Festival. Zakery Guerra(Breach) and Liam Hutchens (Computer Virus Remake) digital animated short films advanced to the semifinal level of the film festival. Zakery Guerra’s animation Breach advanced to the state finals and placed 4th overall.
