Goliad ISD Celebrates Texas Public Schools Week!
“LEAVE YOUR MARK”
For more than 150 years, schools across the Lone Star State have opened their doors to the community as part of the annual observance of Texas Public Schools Week. The 2014 theme for Public School Week is, “LEAVE YOUR MARK”. Come and help us celebrate our schools!
We encourage all parents and the Goliad community to visit the Goliad ISD campuses during Texas Public Schools Week, held March 3th -7th. Please stop at the campus office to sign in and obtain a visitor’s badge before visiting the campus. If you plan to eat lunch with your student(s), you may contact the campus offices to get lunch times. Goliad ISD campus activities scheduled during Public School Week are as follows:
GOLIAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
March 4 – Pastries for Parents – GES Cafeteria – 7:40 a.m. (Gr. PK – 3)
March 6 – Lunch with Grandparents
-Head Start "Breakfast with Grandparents" - 8:30 am - GIS Cafeteria
March 3-7: Parents/Grandparents welcome to eat lunch with your child.
GOLIAD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
March 4 – Breakfast With Students - GIS Cafeteria – 7:40 am
March 4 - "Science Night"
March 3 - 7 –Visitor Days - Parents/Grandparents welcome to
eat lunch with your child.
GOLIAD MIDDLE SCHOOL
March 7 – “ Parents Plus”
Reception in GMS Library 11:20 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
March 7 - GMS Track Meet @ Tiger Stadium (after school)

GISD Student "FLEX DAYS"
Goliad ISD implemented a new incentive plan to acknowledge student achievement. Students who meet the guidelines will have four "flex days" in March that will allow them to extend their Spring Break (March 18-21). Students who do not meet the guidelines must attend classes these days and receive extra instruction to help prepare them for Spring tests.
Special Note: Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start students are NOT eligible for Flex Days and must attend school March 18th-21st.
The Goliad Independent School District Trustee Election will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Single Member Districts #1 (Carlos Gutierrez), #2 (Robert De La Garza), and #4 (Destry Gruetzmacher) are up for election. January 29, 2014 is the first day candidates may file for a place on the ballot and February 28, 2014 is the last day. Applications to file for a place on the ballot may be obtained from the Goliad ISD Superintendent’s office, 161 N. Welch, Goliad, Tx. A candidate does not have to reside in the single member district in which he/she chooses to run.

Have you left your mark?
Goliad ISD Education Foundation is selling engraved brick pavers that will be randomly placed in three designated sections located at the front entrance of the Goliad Event Center. Bricks purchased before December 20, 2013 will be in the ground by May 2014. Show your Tiger Pride by honoring a senior, or alumni of GHS. For more information contact Heather Henicke at 645-3146x108
This year's tax levy to fund maintenance and operations expenditures does not exceed last year's maintenance and operations tax levy.
