Goliad Elementary School selected Jodi Smith and Rene Gutierrez as their Difference Makers for the month of November.

A Difference Maker is a staff or teacher who goes above and beyond to make a difference at their school and in the lives of the students.

Smith, special education teacher at Goliad Elementary was named the November Difference Maker by employee vote. In a nomination, one staff member wrote “Jodi is an invaluable part of our campus. She is always going the extra mile to help her fellow teachers, and myself, out.

“She is a wealth of knowledge and I am beyond grateful to have her guidance and advice.

“GISD is lucky to have her.”

Gutierrez, employee at GES, was named staff Difference Maker by those at the school.

“I could not operate without her,” one person wrote in their nomination letter. “She does it all, from scheduling substitutes, registration and coding, walking kids to classes, delivering things to classrooms, reminding me of my schedule and reminding me to eat.

“I am convinced she could run the school on her own. Plus, she helps make the front office fun.”
