Goliad ISD has developed six separate community action sub-committees that meet to report back to the district-wide action committee. These sub-committees include parents, students, teachers, community members, and local business leaders and are focused on one of six identified areas of need. The six sub-committees are Goliad Elementary, Goliad Middle, Goliad High, Athletics, Fine Arts, and FFA/CTE. Once completed, all members of the committees will meet to rank the district needs in order so that the school board can be better informed of what our community would like regarding facilities improvements.
Some of the suggestions from our sub-committees may include redesigning existing spaces, repurposing areas of buildings, upgrading functionality to better meet the instructional or safety needs of students or building new construction. The facilities belong to the community, so Dr. Ackley feels it is best to include the community in decision-making regarding the long-range plans for the buildings. He has also reiterated the importance of maintaining the buildings so the usable life-span is increased.
