About Goliad ISD:

The Goliad Independent School District provides educational opportunities to approximately 1325 students. These students reside in Goliad County , which encompasses 871 square miles and has a population of 6000. The city of Goliad is the county seat and has a population of 2000.


The Goliad Independent School District was founded in 1910 and enjoys the same outstanding support from the community and taxpayers as it did when the district was founded. The district provides an excellent instructional program that has been recognized and rewarded by the Texas Education Agency. The Elementary School has been selected and participates in the State Mentor School program. The Middle and High School campuses each received a monetary award and were designated Recognized for student achievement gains on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) test.


The Elementary School serves students in grades PK-3; the Intermediate School serves grade 4-6; Middle School is made up of students in grades 7-8; and the High School consists of students in grades 9-12. All classrooms are air conditioned, and all three campuses have gymnasiums which meet the physical education and athletic needs of the students. In addition to academic success, the district also enjoys success in the band program and the boys' and girls' athletic programs. More than 60% of the graduating seniors enroll in institutions of higher education.


The Goliad ISD provides a comprehensive educational program for all students. The
instructional program is diversified and provides course work that prepares the students for a variety of post high school endeavors. Students attending Goliad schools receive an excellent foundation in the core subjects which include English/Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.

A strong teaching staff and a supportive Board of Trustees and administration are responsible for the high caliber of instruction that is provided the students. Each campus has a full-time principal, assistant principal, counselor and librarian. In addition, a full-time registered nurse is available on every campus to take care of the medical needs of the students.
